Bashundhara Group, the country’s largest business conglomerate, started truck sales of essential commodities to reduce the suffering of customers in the port city, like elsewhere in the country, on Thursday.
The sales were carried out in the city’s Banani Complex, Navy Gate, Alankar Morr and C&B Morr of Kalurghat areas on Thursday.
The sales will continue till 6pm on the day before the Eid-Ul-Azha.
A total of 31 products, including Soybean oil, flour, noodles and spices are being sold by trucks under the programme.
Many of the lower-income people who rushed to buy the products expressed their satisfaction and said they cannot buy the TCB products due to a lack of required cards.
“Bashundhara Group is providing us with products at lower prices. We are happy as the price of all products is low,” said rickshaw-puller Sattar.
Bashundhara Group Chattogram Divisional In-Charge Md Aktar Hossain said Bashundhara Group started selling products at affordable prices to help low-income people.
Apart from the four places in Chattogram, the sale of these products has started in Rangamati, Khagrachari, Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban district headquarters so that the common people can celebrate the Eid well.
Assistant General Manager Borhan Uddin and Territory In-charge Zahidul Islam were present during the programme.
