Two people, including a United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) activist, were shot dead by miscreants in Rangamati. 

The incident took place at Dhanputi Bazar in Kattali upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as UPDF activist Bidyadhan Tilak, 49, and local resident Dhanyamoni Chakma, 32.

According to locals, a group of 10 to 12 armed members swooped on the duo and opened fire on them, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

Langadu police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Harunur Rashid confirmed the matter.

He said the two men were killed by the Jyotirindro Bodhipriyo Santu Larma’s Parbatya Chittagong Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) faction.

Police left for the spot and details will be briefed later, he added.
