JESSORE: Awami League rebel candidate from independent Swapon Bhattacharya won unofficially in the polls to Jessore-5 (Monirampur) constituency on Thursday.
Swapon bagged 78,424 votes while Awami League candidate Khan Tipu Sultan got 58,518 votes in all 122 voting centers, according to returning office in Jessore.
Swapon contested with his symbol pitcher and Khan Tipu Sultan contested with his electoral symbol boat.
The voting started at 8:00am and without any interval ended at 4:00pm, said returning officer of the constituency.
