Inqilab sealed off, 3 journos held

DHAKA: Detective Branch of Police sealed off the Daily Inqilab office and its press for the violation of information technology act on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, police seized computer CPU and held four journalists of the newspaper for publishing a report titled, "Indian army assist joint force operation in Satkhira".

The detainees are-News Editor Robiullah Robi, Deputy Chief Reporter Rafiq Mohammad, Diplomatic Reporter Ahmed Atik and Senior reporter Afjal Bari.

Later, police released Senior Reporter Afjal Bari at around 11:15pm.

Special reporter of the Daily Inqilab Sakhawat Hossain Badsha confirmed the matter.

Witnesses said that a detective team led-by Additional Police Commissioner Rakib Uddin took position in front of the Inqilab office and later raided the every floor of the building.

Confirming the matter, Police Media Cell Deputy Police Commissioner Masudur Rahman told banglanews, “Police seized two CPUs, two monitors, a UPS, a tracing paper and draft copy the newspaper from the office.”
