The government on Tuesday (August 13) sent Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Moniruzzaman and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rangpur range Abdul Baten to forced retirement.

Additional IGP and Special Branch (SB) of Police Chief Monirul Islam has been attached to the police headquarters.

Md Shah Alam, DIG of the Railway Police, has been appointed as the chief of the Special Branch (SB), an intelligence unit of the Bangladesh Police.

Tawfiq Mahbub Chowdhury, Additional IG, has been made the chief of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).

Additionally, 29 Superintendents of Police (SPs) who were recently promoted to the rank of Additional DIG have been transferred and posted to new positions.

Furthermore, 18 officer-in-charges (OCs) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) police stations have been transferred to various unarmed police units.

Separate gazette notifications from the Home Ministry and the DMP were issued today regarding these changes.
