DNC raids DJ Party in Gulshan, arrests two

The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) has arrested two people with illegal liquor during a raid at a DJ party in Dhaka’s Gulshan area.

On Monday (Nov 11), the raid was conducted at a hotel named "Quality Inn Private Limited" on Road 50, Gulshan-2.

The arrestees were identified as Md. Kamal Uddin, 48 and Md. Ariful Islam, 32.

During the operation, officials recovered 11 bottles of foreign liquor and 17 cans of beer from their possession.

Confirming the incident, Shamim Ahmed, Deputy Director of the DNC’s Dhaka Metro North Office, said that a special anti-narcotics team carried out the raid based on a tip-off. The team, comprising members of the DNC and Dhaka Detective Branch, was led by DNC Additional Director Mohammad Badruddin.

According to the DNC, primary interrogation revealed that the arrestees had been organizing DJ parties promoting an "obscene culture" at the hotel for a long time. These events reportedly attracted young men and women from affluent backgrounds, and various types of drugs were supplied at these gatherings.

DNC Inspector Md. Russell Ali has filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act against the arrested individuals, Shamim Ahmed added.
