Eight former members of law enforcement agencies, including ex-IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and former NTMC DG Maj Gen (retd) Ziaul Ahsan, were sent to jail in a case over genocide during an anti-discrimination student movement.
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) also directed the Chief Prosecutor to submit the probe report by December 19.
The court granted one month to submit the report following the prosecution's two months' plea.
The three-member tribunal, led by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder, issued the order on Wednesday (Nov 20). The others members are Justice Md Shafiqul Alam Mahmud and Judge Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.
Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tazul Islam represented the state in the hearing.
The accused sent to jail are former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, ex-Jatrabari OC Abul Hasan, former NTMC Director General Major General (retd) Ziaul Ahsan, former Dhaka district SP Md Abdullah Al Kafi, former Mirpur DC Md Jasim Uddin Molla, ex-Additional SP (Savar Circle) Md Shahidul Islam, former Gulshan OC Md Mazharul Haque, and former Dhaka North DB Inspector Md Arafat Hossain.
The court has also instructed the authorities to produce the accused before the court on December 19.
