A total of Tk 1,261 crore was spent by various ministries, government departments, and agencies to celebrate Mujib Year, marking the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The financial details regarding the expenditures were presented at the 13th meeting of the Advisory Council held at the Secretariat on Wednesday (Nov 20).
Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus presided over the meeting.
According to a press release, the Cabinet Division said that the total expenditure of Tk 1,261 crore and 5 lakh was spent during the 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24 fiscal years by all ministries, departments, and associated offices, the Election Commission Secretariat, the Ministry of Defence, the Anti-Corruption Commission, the National Parliament, the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General, and the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
The budget allocation for the Mujib Year celebrations for the fiscal year 2024-25 has been cancelled, read press release.
