A mild earthquake jolted Rangpur on Thursday (November 21) afternoon, causing brief concern among residents.
The earthquake, recorded at 3.1 on the Richter scale, occurred at 2:03 pm and lasted for 27 seconds, confirmed Mostafizar Rahman, a meteorologist in Rangpur.
He said that the epicenter was in Rangpur Sadar, marking a first in the district's history for an earthquake to originate there.
Fortunately, no casualties or damage were reported.
This follows a previous earthquake on September 6, which struck Rangpur at 8:28 pm with a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale.
