2 killed in Naogaon private car, drum truck collision

Two passengers of a private car were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision with a drum truck in Naogaon’s Manda upazila on Monday (Dec 9) afternoon.

The accident occurred around 3:30 pm on the Naogaon-Rajshahi regional highway at Sahapukur, confirmed Manda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mansur Rahman.

The deceased were identified as Alvi Rabbani Jihan, 32, son of Enamul Haque, and Mahin Ahmed Sagar, 27, son of Abdur Jabbar, both residents of Chowdhurypara in Sapahar upazila of Naogaon.

According to locals, the private car was heading toward Naogaon from Rajshahi. At Sahapukur, it collided with a speeding drum truck coming from the opposite direction. The incident left the private car severely damaged and pinned against a roadside pillar, killing two passengers on the spot.

However, the driver of the truck fled the scene after hitting a bus.

Police recovered the bodies and legal procedures are underway, the official added.
