Four passengers of a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw were killed after a drum truck hit the vehicle in the Gachtala area of Tarakanda upazila in Mymensingh today (Dec 26).

According to locals, the accident occurred on the Tarakanda-Netrokona road around 11 am.

The deceased have been identified as Bidhya Miah, 42, Lovely Akter, 18, Bakul Begum, 60, and Abdur Rashid, 65, said Md Shafiqul Islam Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station.

The accident occurred around 7:30am when the auto-rickshaw, heading towards Netrokona, collided with the truck, killing two passengers on the spot and critically injuring four others, the OC said, quoting locals.

The injured were taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where two others succumbed to their injuries.
