The Police Headquarters has issued a warning urging everyone not to share the PIN numbers of mobile financial services (MFS), such as bKash, Nagad, Rocket, or bank cards, as fraudsters are making phone calls by cloning the national emergency service number 999.
A press release stated, "Do not share your mobile banking account PINs or bank card PINs with anyone." It also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious calls to the police or directly to 999.
The warning comes after several complaints that scammers are impersonating emergency responders, using the cloned 999 number to request sensitive PIN information.
The Police clarified that the national emergency service is never authorized to ask for such personal details.
The 999 service is intended solely for police, fire, and ambulance emergencies.
