Bishwa Ijtema 2nd phase ends with 'Akheri Munajat'

The second phase of the first part of Bishwa Ijtema, the world’s second-largest Muslim congregation, concluded today at the Turag River banks in Tongi with Akheri Munajat (final prayers).

Maulana Mohammad Zubair led the prayers from 12:08 pm to 12:27 pm, according to the Ijtema organizing committee.

The event saw multiple sermons delivered, including one by Farooq Sahib, a senior Tabligh leader from Bangalore, India, after Fajr prayers. His sermon was translated by Mufti Amanul Haque Sahib.

Later, Maulana Abdur Rahman Sahib from India addressed the gathering at 10:00 am, with Maulana Abdul Matin Sahib of Bangladesh providing translation.

The first phase of the Ijtema concluded on February 2, and the second phase began on February 3.

The third phase, for followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi, is set for February 14-16.

Tragically, two more devotees, Sujabat Ali Sarkar, 75, and Md Shamsul Alam, 60, passed away today, raising the total death toll across both phases to nine.

This was confirmed by Habibullah Raihan, the media coordinator of Shurai Nezam, Tabligh Jamaat Bangladesh.
