Journalist and media personality Monir Haider has been appointed as the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser (CA) of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Wednesday (Feb 6), appointing him to the position with the rank of Senior Secretary.

Monir Haider is currently in New York and is expected to return to Bangladesh soon to assume his new role.

With nearly three decades of experience in journalism, Monir Haider has worked with several newspapers, including Dainik Purbokone, Bhorer Kagoj, Janakantha, Jai Jai Din, Ittefaq, and Manab Zamin. 

He is currently an adviser to the television channel Banglavision.

As Special Assistant, he will work on behalf of the Chief Adviser to build national consensus by liaising and maintaining communication with various political parties and groups.
