Two friends lost their lives after a dump truck hit their motorcycle in Shibchar, Madaripur. 

The accident happened around 11:30 pm on Saturday (February 15) at Purbo Sannyasirchar on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway link road.

The deceased were identified as Limon Bepari, 21, son of Nur Mohammad Bepari from Thengamara in Shibchar municipality, and Nayon, 21, son of Rustum Hawlader from Bakhorkandi in Madbarerchar Union. Both worked at a motorcycle garage in Suryanagar Bazar in Daopara Union.

According to locals, Limon and Nayon were riding home from Suryanagar Bazar when a sand-laden dump truck hit their motorcycle at Purbo Sannyasirchar. Limon, who was driving, died on the spot, while Nayon suffered critical injuries. He was first taken to a local private hospital and later referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way.

Shibchar Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahirul Islam confirmed the matter.

The police seized the dump truck, but the driver managed to flee, he added.
