DHAKA: A youth allegedly committed suicide in Mohammadpur area in city on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Mahtab, 22, son of Akter Hossian, a rickshaw puller hailed from Krishi Market of the area.

Kamal Krishno Saha, Sub-Inspector of Mohammadpur Police Station, told banglanews that Mahtab hanged himself with ceiling fan in the morning on the day.

Later, the family members recovered him and rushed him to hospital in a critical condition. He died on his way to hospital.

He added, later in the afternoon, police sent his dead body to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy but the reason for suicide has yet to be known.
