Gazipur: Laying a mousetrap, Rapid Action Battalion men arrested two suspected muggers with sharp weapons at Kamarpara bridge under Tongi thana in the district on Saturday night.

Rab sourcess said plainclothes RAB–1 members laid ambush at the spot to hold the snatchers after hearing screams of a passer-by at 8:30pm. Nizam Uddin, 24, and Mosharraf Hossain, 23, were caught red-handed on allegation of robbing that passer-by.

Two others of the gang managed to dodge the RAB trap.

„The law-enforcers shot one bullet while snatcher Nizam attemted to stab one of them,“ RAB claimed.

Nizam was admitted to Dhaka Medical College hospital with bullet wound. The RAB men said they seized two sharp knives and an iron stick from their possession.
