DHAKA: Solar energy cannot play a big role in Bangladesh socio-economic perspective. Solar energy can only be provided at free of cost when gridline cannot be established under green climate fund.
Journalist Rafiqul Bashar came up with the assertion in reply to a comment of audiences at the public opinion program on electricity price hike arranged by banglanews.
Rafiqul Bashar said, “The solar technology is not economically viable in the countries, including Bangladesh that belongs to so called third world.”
According to him, solar energy is expensive and can only be used in limited spheres.
He further said, “It will be waste of money if we invest a big amount of money only to lit bulbs for household uses.”
He said, solar energy has played little role in industrial purposes.
