COX’S BAZAR: Two persons were killed as lightning struck them in two separate areas in Pekua upazila of the district on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Taufiq, 13, son of Amir Hossain and Jamal Hossain, 25, son of Abu Taher.

Sources said that wearing polyethylene bag, Taufiq was going to field around 10:00am. Then lightning stuck him, leaving him dead on the spot.

In another incident, Jamal Hossain and his father were working in the salt field in the area. Then lightning stuck Jamal, leaving him dead on the spot but father Abu Taher luckily survived.

Pekua Thana Officer-in-Charge Habibur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
