RAB denies involvement

DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Headquarters expressed concern over publishing “baseless and imaginary” news items in connection the organization with sensational seven-murder, including panel mayor Nazrul Islam, in Narayanganj in some media.

Meanwhile three officers  RAB-11, including commanding officer Lieutenant Colon Tarequie Sayed, have been sacked for controversial roles during the sensational seven-murder in the district.

Of them, Arif Hossain of the army and former battalion chief Lieutenant Colonel MM Rana of Bangladesh Navy were forced to retire and RAB-11 commanding officer was sent back to Bangladesh Army on Tuesday. 

Army and Navy Headquarters issued separate gazette notifications in this regard, sources confirmed the media.

On Wednesday, postmortem reports revealed that the victims of sensational Narayanganj 7-killing were strangled to death in same style.

State minister for home Asaduzzaman Khan said, “The investigation in sensational Narayanganj 7-killing is at final stage and the list of the accused would be brought to light anytime.”

On April 30, Narayanganj City Corporation Councilor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar and five others were found dead floating on River Shitalkkhya after 3-day of abduction.
