NETROKONA: The indefinite transport strike in the district entered the third consecutive day on Monday centering the clash between CNG run auto rickshaw drivers and bus workers.
Sources said that the district was virtually cut off from the rest of the country due to the strike, causing immense sufferings to passengers.
General Secretary of District Bus Terminal Workers Union Golam Morshed Talukder said that the strike is being enforced from Saturday morning as the CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers vandalized buses on Friday night.
Earlier on Wednesday, CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers and bus workers locked into an altercation and later, in a meeting between two groups on Friday afternoon, the dispute was also settled.
Besides, a clash between the transport workers and police on Saturday evening pushed the strike further for third day, he added.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Abul Kalam Azad said that an initiative was taken to settle the crisis.
