Indefinite transport strike begins in Rangpur

RANGPUR: An Indefinite transport strike, enforced by district Motor Sromik Union, began in Rangpur on Monday which halted the road link of the district with six neighboring districts.

The organization called the strike protesting the gun attack on workers’ leaders.

Due to the strike, transport service remained stopped in 40 roads in the district which linked with six districts including Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Nilphamari, Kurigram and Lalmonirhat.

Senior Officer of Rangpur Intelligence Department Shariful Islam said there was no conflict between motor workers and police but motor workers locked into clash with auto-rickshaw workers in Amtali area in Rangpur town on Sunday night.   

On the other hand, Motor Sromik Union leaders alleged that police opened fire aiming them.
