DHAKA: The Government has decided to appoint Tarik Ahsan, currently serving as Director General in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the new High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

A career diplomat, Tarik Ahsan belongs to the 09th batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre. 

In his distinguished diplomatic career he served in Bangladesh Missions in New York, Riyadh, Jakarta and Berlin in various capacities.

 Tarik Ahsan is a Bachelor in Science from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology. He also did Post-Graduate Diploma in International Relations & Development from International Institute of Social Studies, The Hague. He attended training courses in New York and Singapore.  

 He is married and blessed with one daughter.
