Kolkata Bus Stand to be shifted

KOLKATA: In a bid to lessen the pollution rate along with the messy traffic, the Babughat, Kolkata bus stand is likely to get shifted to Howrah Satragachi on September 30.

Indian State Government has passed a law with a view to protecting the Victoria Memorial sculpture, and making a healthy environment around by controlling the pollution level.

Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, earlier succeeded in protecting the Ganga basin area. A special committee has been given the responsibility to get the work done as soon as possible. Mainly, buses from other states, and few local buses stays around the Babughat bus stand.

Though the plan was to come in action earlier, the refusal of the bus owners’ committee kept it hanging. However, the new Satragachi bus stand stands on over an area of 11 acres, and is going to be highly developed.

The State Government has declared that, 30th September onwards buses from other states won’t enter Kolkata, and people will be provided with other bus facilities from Stragachi to Dharmatala.

Various environmentalists committees are pleased with the step taken by the State Government. It is a relief to them, as because right measures have been taken against their complaints regarding the pollution that was created by the bus stand over there, and the concernment about the protection of Victoria Memorial too.
