Air staff chief to visit UN HQ, missions

DHAKA: Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, ndu, psc has left Dhaka to visit United Nations Headquarters in New York and UN peacekeeping missions in Congo and Côte d’Ivoire in Africa.

He will also visit various establishments set up by Bangladesh Army and UN, including three contingents of Bangladesh Air Force (Bangladesh Utility Aviation Unit, Bangladesh Airfield Services and Bangladesh Air Transport Unit) in Bunia and Dungu in Democratic Republic of Congo and another contingent (Ban-Air) in Côte d’Ivoire.

Apart from this, Enamul Bari also with three other high officials will visit the United Nations Headquarters and will hold bilateral meetings with the assistant secretary general, Office of Operation, Under Secretary General, Department of Field Support and various other high ups of UN.

Some 40 members and a C-130 cargo jet, six MI-17 helicopters of Bangladesh Utility Aviation Unit and 190 members, some 128 members of Bangladesh Airport Services in Democratic Republic of Congo and  three Bell 212 Helicopters and 104 members of Bangladesh Air force have been working in Côte d’Ivoire.
