PM visits Ivy Rahman’s residence

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the residence of slain Awami League leader Ivy Rahman, who was killed in August 21 grenade attack. 

The premier visited at Ivy Tower in city’s Gulshan area to attend a Doa mahfil at 5:20pm Sunday.

Earlier in the morning, she along with ruling party leaders mourned and placed floral wreath at her graveyard.

The son of former President Zillur Rahman and Ivy Rahman, Nazmul Hasan Papon were also present there.

Earlier on August 21 in 2004, rage grenades were rained on the rally on Bangabandhu Avenue in the city when Sheikh Hasina was addressing the gathering with almost all central leaders of Awami League present.

24 people were killed and many others injured in the attack.

The dead included the party’s women’s affairs secretary Ivy Rahman.

She breathed last on August 24 in 2004 after fighting for life after three days of the attack.
