3-day holiday for Durga Puja demanded

DHAKA: Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Moha Jote leaders demanded to the government to announce three-day holiday for Durga Puja.

The leaders also demanded for 60 reserved seats at Jatiya Sangsad for Hindu community of the country.

Leaders of the organization made the demand in a press release at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) around 11:00am.

They said Durga Puja is the largest festival for Hindu community of the country and they intend to meet their parents and relatives on the eve of the festival.

Pointing that only one day’s holiday at workplace is a hindrance to meet relatives, the speakers demanded three-day as holiday for Durga Puja.

Demanding 60 reserved seats at JS, they also said the Hindu community wants to see the implementation of secularism and equal facilities to all citizens of the country irrespective of religion and community that the Constitution speaks about.

With Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mohajote president Manoj Kumar Mandal in the chair, convener of the organization Palas Kanti Dey, Senior Joint Secretary General Dr Mrityunjay Roy, convener of Dhaka Metropolitan South Sameer Sarker and general secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Akhil Mandal, among others, were present in the conference.
