20,000 people marooned in Faridpur

FARIDPUR: Around 20,000 people are marooned due to downpour and water logging in 50 villages of Faridpur Sadar, Sadarpur and Char Bhadrason upazilas of the district.

In last 24 hours, water level of Padma river rose above 27 centimeter (cm) of danger level. At Goalanda point, water level rose two cm.

Officer Golam Mostafa Khan of Faridpur Water Development Board confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On the other hand, acres of char remained useless due to water logging. The locals face food, accommodation crisis.

UP chairman Shadekuzzaman Milan said around 5,000 people of this union are marooned. Though, the administration is giving relief.

Deputy commission Sardar Sharafat Ali said they are helping the marooned people.
