COX’S BAZAR: Five people were killed and two others injured in separate incidents as lightning struck them in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar and in Lama upazila of Bandarban on Thursday noon.
The deceased were identified as Ali Ahmed, 48, Nurul Huda, 40 and Ahad Ali, 36, of Chakaria upazila and Zaheda Begum, 50 and her daughter Nasima Begum, 15, residents of Lama upazila.
In Chakaria, Officer-in-Charge of Chakaria Thana Prabhash Chandra Dhar said that three people were killed and two others injured as lightning struck them while they were gossiping in a tea stall in the area around 1:00pm.
The injured were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
On the other hand, our Bandarban correspondents reported that Zaheda Begum and her daughter were killed as they were hit by lightning strike while they were working at the yard of their house in the area at 12:00 noon.
Officer-in-Charge of Lama Thana M Sirajul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
