Dr Shamarukh’s body exhumed

JESSORE: The body of Dr Shamarukh Mahjabin, daughter-in-law of former Awami League MP Tipu Sultan, has been dug out from the grave on Thursday for a re-autopsy.

The body was exhumed from Karbala graveyard of the town at 11:15am and sent to Jessore 250-seated Hospital morgue after 21-day of her burial.

Executive Magistrate Abdus Salam, Lecturers of Forensic Department of Jessore Medical College Hospital Dr Hossain Safayat, Dr Jesmin Sumaiya, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Dhanmondi zone CID Munshi Ruhul Haque, Jessore Kotowali Thana Officer-in-Charge Inamul Haque, Dr Shamarukh’s father Engineer Nurul Islam along with others were also present there.

Head of the Forensic Department of Jessore Medical College Hospital Professor Nazmul Huda, Lecturer of the department Dr Hossain Safayat, Medical Officers of the hospital Dr Shamsul Alam Dodul and Dr Alamgir Kabir will conduct the re-autopsy process in Jessore.

Two more autopsies will be conducted at Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital in Dhaka and at forensic department of Khulna Medical College Hospital.

However, following a petition filed by victim’s father, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Bikash Kumar Saha of Dhaka on November 25 ordered the exhumation of the body of Shamarukh for re-autopsy.

The court had ordered a three-member committee to exhume the body and do autopsy again.

Earlier on November 13, Mehjabin, wife of Humayun Sultan Sadab, eldest son of Khan Tipu Sultan, was found dead at her in law’s Dhanmondi residence in the capital.

Jessore Kotowali Thana Officer-in-Charge Inamul Haque confirmed the matter to banglanews.
