Smugglers’ attack hurts 5 BGB men

COX’S BAZAR: Five Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel were injured when a smuggling gang attacked on a BGB check post near the estuary of Rezu river Saturday night.

The injured are Abdul Barek, 55, Sharif Ullah, 45, Shamsu Uddin, 27, Rubel Hossain, 22, and Abu  Daudm 21. All are posted in BGB 17 battalion in the district.

BGB sources said a gang of smugglers, led-by Abu Taher and Abul Kalam of Sonapara under Ukhia upazila, attacked the on-duty BGB personnel at the check post around 7:00pm on the day, leaving five BGB men injured.

The injured were given treatment at the district Sadar Hospital.

BGB 17 battalion commander lieutenant colonel Saiful Alam Saif confirmed the matter to banglanews.
 
A case was filed with Ramu Thana in this connection accusing 60 people including Taher and Kalam, the BGB commander added.
