GONO UNIVERSITY: The ban issued by the government on displaying banners, posters and festoons in the National Mausoleum area in Savar on the occasion of Victory Day is being ignored.

Earlier on December 11, a government press note asking people to refrain from displaying all types of banners, posters from Bishmail area to the National Mausoleum in Savar from December 13 to 15.

Visit of common people is also under this restriction for this period, the note added.

In a spot visit, banglanews correspondent on Saturday morning witnessed the banners and festoons of political leaders being displayed by both sides of the highway.

However, erecting gates over the highway is also prohibited to ensure safety of the passengers. Police has also made a list of structures by the highway.

A source in administration informed banglanews that law enforcers have taken several initiatives this year regarding security.
