Mozena says Bangladesh goodbye

DHAKA: Outgoing US Ambassador Dan W Mozena left Bangladesh as his three years’ service tenure in the country has ended.

Sources of US Embassy in Dhaka confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier, Mozena took the office of the US Ambassador to Bangladesh on November 24, 2011, sources added.

Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat, deputy secretary in the Bureau of Human Resources at the Department of State, will replace Mozena.

The new US envoy is expected to take over the office soon.

Before leaving the country, he made farewell call on president Advocate Abdul Hamid, foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali and other ministers, opposition leader Raushan Ershad, BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Mentioning the huge natural resources of Bangladesh, the outgoing US ambassador said Bangladesh will be next Malaysia.

During a conversation in social media, Facebook, Mozena said Bloom Bernicat will replace him as new US ambassador to Bangladesh.

Citing the wonderful personality of Bernicat, Mozena said people of Bangladesh will love her.

He said “I feel sad today. I thing the people will understand the emotion of mine”.
