DHAKA: Over 120 jhut shops, those sold scrap garments fabrics, were gutted in a devastating fire at Jhut Potti in city’s Mirpur on Wednesday noon.

Duty office of fire service control room told banglanews that on information, some 12 fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire after hours-long effort along with help of locals at 3:40pm.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, director of fire service administration Abdus Salam said the fire was doused, however the reason of the fire still unknown.

Locals said some 200 jhut shops were located at the jhut potti and almost all of those were gutted by the fire.
