BHOLA: At least 20 shops were gutted as a devastating fire  broke out at a market of Sonali Road in Char Fashion upazila Sadar of the district early Monday.
 
Of the burnt shops, five were grocery shops, two homeopath medicine shops, a pharmacy, three wholesale shops of rice, three ships of garment clothes, three warehouses and two restaurants.
 
Local sources said the fire originated at a shop of the market around 1:45am and soon engulfed adjacent shops.

Affected shop owners claimed that the extent of loss in the fire could go up to Tk 3-crore.

On information, three fire fighting units from Char Fashion, Lalmohan and Borhanuddin  fire services rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control after two hours’ effort.

Char fashion Thana officer-in-charge Enamul Haque said cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
