MADARIPUR: Two people were killed in a road mishap on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Zahirul Islam, 35, teacher of a madrasah, and Robi Bepari, 47, a fish trader.

Panchchar highway police outpost sergeant Arif Khan told banglanews that a truck run over the duo near Panchchar bridge while crossing the road, leaving Robi dead on the spot and Zahirul injured.

Zahirul was rushed to Panchchar Royal Hospital and then was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries.
