ASHULIA, DHAKA: A member of industrial police was killed and four others sustained injuries in an attack of miscreants in Baroipara check-post on Nabinagar-Kaliakoir road in Ashulia of Dhaka on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Makbul.

Savar Thana circle assistant police super (ASP) Sheikh Rusel told banglanews that a gang of miscreants attacked the police this morning while Makbul along with Nur Alam was patrolling Baroipara check-post area.

During the time, the attackers, riding on two motorcycles, hacked the duo indiscriminately; leaving them injured seriously and fled the scene. Three other police officials also were injured when they tried save their colleagues.   

The injured were rushed to Enam Medical College and Hospital, where Makbul succumbed to his injuries.

Hospital director Zahidur Rahman confirmed the death to banglanews.

Industrial police director and also Ashulia Zone additional police super (ASP) Kawsar Shikdar told banglanews that extremists might be involved in the attack on police officials.

However, police also suspected that Wednesday’s attack might have a link with sub-inspector (SI) Ibrahim Molla murder in a cheek-post in capital’s Gabtoli area on October 21.
