BSF returns 15 Bangladeshis thru’ Benapole

DHAKA: India Border Security Force (BSF) Thursday returned 15 Bangladeshis, including women and children, who were detained earlier for intrusion into India.

The detainees were handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) through India’s Petrapole border around 2:00pm.

The returnees hailed from different areas in Jessore, Dhaka, Narayanganj, Faridpur, Munshiganj and Comilla.

BGB said traffickers brought the Bangladeshi men and women into India alluring better jobs there.

However, BSF jawans detained them for illegal entry while returning home from India. On humanity ground, BSF handed over them to BGB instead of handing over to Indian police.

BGB-26 battalion Benapole checkpost ICP camp Subedar Jalal Uddin told banglanews that with allegation of illegal intrusion, the Bangladesh citizens will be handed over to Benapole Port Thana police.

Police will take next action as per law, he added.
