DHAKA: The preventive wing of the Dhaka Customs seized 14 kilograms of gold worth about Tk 7.30 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday morning.
However, none involved in the gold smuggling could be arrested, Shahiduzzaman, assistant commissioner (AC) of Customs, told banglanews.
He further said that the consignment of gold arrived at the airport in a flight coming from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia around 8:15am.
Acting on tip off, 14 kilograms of gold has been found hidden beneath seat of the aircraft on arrival.
The market price of seized gold was Tk 7.50crore, the AC (customs) added.
A case has been filed with Airport Thana in this connection, Shahiduzzaman also said.
