Bus plunge death toll rises to 7

MYMENSINGH: The death toll from a bus crash in Bhaluka on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway has risen to seven.

Besides, 10 other passengers, who sustained injuries in the accident on Saturday, are now undergoing treatment at Bhaluka Health Complex.

Of the deceased, four were identified as Fazlul Haque, 45, Rofaz Uddin, 40, of Bhaluka Abdul Motaleb, 43, of Trishal in Mymensingh and Nawshed, 35, hailed from Nilphamari.

Bhaluka Model Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Mamunur Rashid told banglanews that a Dhaka-bound bus Shyamoli Bangla Paribahan plunged into roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering in the area, leaving two passengers dead on the spot and others injured.

Four of the injured have died on way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), the OC added.

Later, another succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Bodies of two dead persons have been kept at Bhalika health Complex while rests have been kept at MMCH morgue, he added.
