SAVAR: A total of 23 police personnel, including one Sub-Inspector and three Assistant Sub-Inspectors, were closed from Aminbazar Outpost for their alleged involvement in extortion and torture on businessmen on Tuesday.

The closed police officials are Sub-Inspector Yunus, ASI Farooque, Lutfar Rahman and Ashraf and 19 others police constable.

Sources said closed police men used to take extortion in Aminbazar area for long days.

Protesting the incident on Monday, businessmen blockaded Dhaka-Aricha Highway and demanded immediate punishment of the accused police.
