DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate Information Technology Laboratories (IT labs) that have been newly established and operationalized in model schools in the 64 districts of the country.
The inaugural function will be held on September 4 at the Prime Minister’s Office.
This is in fulfillment of the commitment made by Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh, during his visit to Bangladesh in September 2011 setting up IT labs in model schools of each of the 64 districts of Bangladesh.
The schools were identified by the Government of Bangladesh.
Each IT lab has 10 computers with high speed internet connection. The project has been implemented at a cost of Tk 42987,520.
The government has declared IT as a thrust sector and is undertaking several projects in realizing the ‘Vision 2021 of a Digital Bangladesh’.
The establishment of the IT labs in 64 schools is yet another stepping stone towards realizing this Vision of a Digital Bangladesh.
