DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakib Uddin said commission is ready to hold general elections in anytime.

CEC made the discloser on Tuesday at his office at capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

He said, “Commission has updated voter list, demarcated the constitution boundary and imported irremovable ink. We’ve taken all preparations. Now commission is ready for election anytime as per the constitution.”

Earlier in the day, CEC held a closed-door meeting from 11:00am to 5:00pm.

Election commissioner Mohammad Abu Hafiz, Shahnewaz, Abdul, Mobarak and commission secretary Mohammad Sadik attended the meeting.

CEC said: “Though the commission is yet to fix the election date, general polls must be held after the tenure of the present government as per constitution.”
