Boat sinks in Titash with 140 students

BRAMHANBARIA: A boat carrying 140 students capsized in Titash River near Srirampur area of Nasirnagar upazila in the district on Wednesday.

All of passengers managed to swim ashore while Farzana Akhter, 12, a class-VI student, went missing.

Head Master of Kunda High School Shahidul Haque told banglanews that an engine-run boat was rented to transport students as most of the villages of Kunda Union remained under water approximately half of the year.

The boat capsized at around 10.00 am as a crack developed on its deck, he added.
 
Nasirnagar police station Officer-in-Charge Obaidul Quader confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said that police are trying to rescue or recover the missing student.”
