Bomb hoax in CMCH

Chittagong: A bomb hoax terrorized the teachers and students of Chittagong Medical College Sunday, resulting in disruption of classes and administrative activities for a couple of hours.

The bomb scare was spread by an anonymous phone-caller. On information, bomb specialists of the Special Branch and the Detective Branch of police drove a search operation till 12 pm, but could find nothing of that sort.

Selim   Mohammad Jahangir, Principal of CMC, said, “The perpetrator, who spread the rumor, is not yet identified.”

Panchalaish thana sources said a phony phone call was received by the PS to the CMC principal at 9:13am, which claimed that a bomb had been planted in the administrative building. The unknown voice cut the connection saying: “The bomb may explode anytime.”

In no time, the CMC authorities informed the campus police camp. A police team rushed to the administrative building to bring out all the personnel safely.

“Finally, the bomb specialists’ team searched each of the classrooms and offices, but nothing hazardous was found,” said one police official.
