Journalist among 35 injured

TANGAIL: At least 35 people were inured, a journalist by bullets, in a clash between RMG workers and law enforcers in Hatuvanga area under Mirzapur upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.

The journalist was identified as Tutul who works as a Tangail district correspondent of the Daily Ittefaq, received bullet injury while he went to cover the news.

Locals said that the agitated workers started protest on Dhaka-Tangail highway to press their demand of Tk 8,000 minimum salary.

On information police rushed to the spot and tried to disperse the workers. At one stage workers locked into chase and counter chase with police and police fired tear shells and rubber bullets to keep the situation under control, leaving 35 persons injured including a journalist.

Police source said that the situation was under control at that moment and additional law enforcers were deployed in the area to avoid such anarchy.

Mirzapur Thana Officer-in-Charge Golam Mostafa confirmed the matter to banglanews.
