DHAKA: Agitated students on Tuesday afternoon withdrew blockade from Dhaka-Chittagong highway after getting assurance about meeting their demand.

Officer-in-Charge of Baroaulia Highway Thana Sohel Imtiaz confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Vehicular movements became normal through the highway in the afternoon.

Earlier in the day, agitated students blocked Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sitakundo at noon protesting an accident that killed a student.

The deceased was identified as Nurunnabi Rubel, sixth semester student of International Islamic University.

Vehicular movement was stopped through the area due to the blockade.

Witnesses said that Rubel was killed as a rashly driven bus rammed him at 9:30am. Later agitated students of his varsity blocked the highway and vandalized 100 vehicles while torched 2 buses.
