RANGPUR: Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Mayor Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu is likely to file a compensation suit of Tk 5 crore against Apollo Hospitals on charge of negligence in treatment.

The disclosure came from a press conference at his resident in Rangpur on Tuesday.

Jhantu said that he received injury in a road accident on July 28 and got admitted into Apollo Hospitals for better treatment.

After a treatment of 19 days under Dr Nanda Kumar, Orthopedics Consultant of the hospitals, he was discharged and he had to pay bill of Tk 14.54 lakh.

However, recently he had a physical test in a local clinic where the doctors said that his right hand was still broken. How a renowned hospital like Apollo Hospitals did this sort of wrong treatment, he added.

The Mayor, however, demanded punishment and a compensation of the amount stated above for the poor treatment of Apollo Hospitals.

A case would be filed in this connection soon, the newsmen were told.
