PIROJPUR: A leader of robber gang was killed and two police personnel were injured in a gunfight between robbers and law enforcers near Chalna Bridge area of the district early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Wahed, a robber leader who was accused for several robberies.  

As per the police sources, acting on secret information, two team consists of Sadar Thana and detective branch of polcie launched a drive as a gang led-by Wahed were holding a clandestine meeting for robbery with a trawler.

As soon as the law enforcers asked the gang to surrender but they started firing. In self-defense, police also retaliated with gunshots that triggered to the gunfight.

Later, police recovered the firearms, bullets, and machetes from the spot.

Pirojpur Sadar police station Sub-Inspector Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
