DHAKA: A total of 41 people have been killed so far in 11 districts as flood situation showed no sign of significant improvement.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief came up with the figures on Wednesday (July 29) based on information drawn from the flood-hit district administrations till July 28.
The ministry said a total of 31 districts have been affected by flooding while 12,710 metric tonnes of rice have been allocated for the flood victims, of which 7,630 metric tonnes have been distributed already.
The government allocated Tk 3,36,50,000 as financial aid for the victims, of which Tk 2,04,45,200 was disbursed. Moreover, Tk 3 crore was also allocated for baby food and fodders. Other relief materials such as dry foods, medicines and house building materials have also been distributed among flood affected people.
Some 48,56,628 people have suffered some form of loss due to the flood in 154 upazilas while 10,21,834 families have been marooned.
A total of 1,590 shelter centres have been opened in the flood-hit districts while some 88,294 people took shelter there.
